Know More about Knitting: Circular Knitting Machines

Mar 13, 2023

Knitting is defined as a process of fabric formed by intermeshing yarn loops. Knitting is possible using a single set of yarns, while weaving requires two sets of yarns. The set may consist of a single yarn (weft knitting) or a single group of yarns (warp knitting). Knitted fabrics are produced by knitting, which forms loops with yarns and is interlaced in various ways to form the fabric.

The knit loop can be classified by its geometry or by the way it is viewed by an observer. Geometrically, an open loop is one in which the forming yarns do not cross at the bottom of the loop. In a closed loop, yarn crossing takes place. The concept of face and back loops requires an observer. If the loop formation seems to be toward the observer, then a face loop is formed. If the loop formation seems to be away from the observer, then a back loop is formed. The knitting industry is divided into two distinct sectors, weft knitting and warp knitting.

The basic types of weft knitted fabric include plain single jersey fabrics, rib fabrics, purl fabrics and interlock fabrics, while the basic types of warp knitted fabric include tricot stitch fabrics, reverse locknit fabrics and locknit stitch fabric. Everyone has at least one T-shirt or polo shirt. Circular knitting machines can make these fabrics (knitted fabrics); they are extremely productive and can be produced in a large quantity of small knitted fabrics, making them ideal for mass production of cut and sewn products such as T-shirts and polo shirts. A circular knitting machine is a general weft knitting machine.
